How to record a browser demo with a camera bubble
Record your screen, microphone, and webcam bubble in a browser. Set up the right capture source, check the preview, and fix common issues.
A screen recording can show what you are doing, but a small camera view helps viewers see who is explaining it. If the webcam bubble is missing, frozen, or covering the wrong part of the page, check the setup before you record the full demonstration.
The Screen Recorder records a screen, window, or browser tab, with options for camera and microphone. You can check the preview first, then record in your browser without installing software.
Record your browser demo with a camera bubble
- Open the Screen Recorder on a computer. The recorder does not work on phones.
- Choose the screen, window, or browser tab you want to show. The browser opens its own sharing picker. Select the source that contains the demonstration, and include tab audio there if you need to record sound from the page.
- Enable the camera and microphone options in the recorder if you want your face and narration in the video. When the browser asks for camera or microphone access, allow it. Check that the live camera preview appears and speak a few words to check the microphone.
- Arrange the page before you begin. Close unrelated tabs, hide private information, and move anything important away from the area behind the camera bubble. If the recorder offers a bubble position or size setting, choose one that does not cover menus or controls viewers need to see.
- Make a short test recording, then play it back. Check the screen, camera image, voice, and any tab audio. If those look and sound right, record the full demo and save the finished recording using the recorder's available save or download option.
Sharing an entire screen can show notifications, open windows, and other personal information. Choose a single tab or window when it contains everything you need. If you must share the whole screen, turn on Do Not Disturb and close private windows first.
What the result means
The bubble shows a live picture
The browser can access the camera, and the recorder is receiving its video. This does not confirm that the final recording includes the camera feed, so make a short test and play it back before recording a longer session.
The bubble is black or missing
The camera may be blocked, another device may be selected, or another app may be using the camera. Check the browser's camera permission and the camera choice in the recorder. If no camera appears in the list, check whether the computer detects it in its system settings.
The bubble appears but stops updating
The camera preview may have stopped refreshing while screen capture continues. Stop the test recording and reopen the camera preview. Check the steps in Webcam bubble stops updating in Screen Recorder if the picture freezes again.
The video has no voice or page audio
Camera video, microphone audio, and tab audio are separate sources. The camera can work while the microphone is muted, and a shared tab may have no sound if tab audio was not included in the browser's sharing picker. Test each source separately before recording the full demo.
The recording shows the wrong page
You may have shared a different tab, window, or screen than the one you intended. Stop, open the sharing picker again, and select the correct source. Browser screen sharing usually cannot switch to another source silently after recording begins.
How to fix a missing or poor camera bubble
- Check the camera cover and connection. Open any physical privacy shutter and check the headset or webcam cable. If the camera is wireless, confirm it is connected and powered on.
- Allow camera access in the browser. Open the site permissions from the icon beside the address bar, set Camera to Allow, and reload the recorder. If the browser asks again, choose the camera you intend to use.
- Allow camera access in the operating system. In Windows 11, open Settings › Privacy & security › Camera and enable camera access and access for desktop apps. On macOS, open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera and allow your browser.
- Close other camera apps. Quit video call, meeting, and camera apps, then reload the recorder. Another app can hold the camera or make the wrong camera seem active.
- Choose the intended camera. If the computer has a built-in webcam and an external one, select the one you want in the recorder's camera list. Check that the camera is facing you and has enough light.
- Check screen recording access on a Mac. If the browser cannot capture the chosen screen or window, open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording, allow the browser if it is listed, then restart the browser and try again.
- Restart the browser, then the computer. Close other tabs first, reopen the recorder, and test again. Restarting the computer can release a camera that a closed or unresponsive app was still using.
Keep the camera bubble out of the way
A bubble can hide a button, menu, or result that viewers need to follow. Before recording, open the page you plan to demonstrate and look for the area that changes as you work. Place your face in a less important corner if the recorder lets you choose its position. If it does not, adjust the page layout or browser window so the bubble does not cover the key action.
Keep your face well lit and avoid a bright window directly behind you. A simple test is enough to catch a distracting background, low volume, or a bubble that overlaps the demonstration. You can record again after changing the setup.
The Screen Recorder runs in your browser. Nothing you record is uploaded, so save the finished file somewhere you can find it.
