Response time during the test

Each point is one request to our server. Orange points are unusual delays, and red marks at the top are requests with no answer within 2 seconds.

Typical response-
Jitter-
Lost-
Lag spikes-
Dropouts-

Good enough for…

  • Online games
  • Video calls
  • Streaming and browsing

What the numbers mean

  • Typical response: how long our server takes to answer, in the middle of all requests. Lower is better.
  • Jitter: how much the response time jumps from one request to the next. Above 20 ms, calls and games start to stutter.
  • Lost: requests that got no answer within 2 seconds.
  • Lag spikes: sudden delays much longer than usual. In games and calls you feel them as lag.
  • Dropouts: times the connection didn’t answer for several seconds in a row.

If the connection is unstable

Run the test once on Wi-Fi and once with a cable, or right next to the router. If only Wi-Fi is unstable, the problem is the signal: move the router to a central, open spot or add a mesh unit. If it’s unstable on a cable too, restart the router, and if it goes on, contact your internet provider with this result.

The response time includes the way to our server, so a game server close to you may answer faster. The jumps and losses matter more than the number itself.
